WHY STEP-BY-STEP WRITING®?

Scaffolding through the writing process continues to be an effective and successful approach to teach writing. Every lesson builds upon the previous skill within one piece of writing. This provides students with a thorough understanding of how to put a quality piece of writing together. It helps even the most reluctant writers become ROCKSTAR WRITERS™! One proven study shows that 98% of two classes using the program scored in the exceptional range on state testing. Now thousands of teachers are having the same success.

This resource is packed with research-based ways to MOTIVATE-EDUCATE-DIFFERENTIATE! You will find your students engaged, have already prepped lessons for explicit teaching, and receive jammin’ ideas for differentiation.

WHAT WILL YOU FIND IN THE STEP-BY-STEP WRITING® PROGRAM for GOOGLE AND POWERPOINT?

1. LESSON PLANS with Editable PACING GUIDE: It has SCRIPTED lesson plans and ideas, links to the GOOGLE resources, and answer keys. No more guessing on what to say!

2. ANCHOR CHARTS: There are anchor charts to teach every skill.

3. DIGITAL INTERACTIVE NOTE-TAKING: They are included for every skill. They are fill-in-the-box notes.

4. INTERACTIVE PRACTICE: There is practice for many of the mini-lessons. They have text boxes for answers. These are great for independent work and homework.

5. SELF-CHECK PRACTICE 1: It needs to be placed in presentation mode. Students click the answers and it automatically tells them if they are right or wrong. If it is wrong, it goes back to the question. (It does not track and report the right and wrong answers.) SELF-CHECK PRACTICE 2 C.U.P.S FOR EDITING.: It is set up the same as the other SELF-CHECK PRACTICE. There are 16 questions per skill (Capitalization, Usage, Punctuation, Spelling). You will find this in each of the essay units.

6. MENTOR TEXT: There is an original mentor text with each skill highlighted within the text. There is also a suggested list of books for mentor text.

7. MODEL AND APPLY: For each lesson, there is a model of that skill that builds into an effective essay. You will have what you need to build an essay with your students. There is also a place for students to apply that skill to build their essay.

8. ASSESSMENT: There is an assessment of skills at the end of the following units: Sentence Structure, Paragraph Writing, Narrative Writing, Opinion Writing, Informative Writing.

9. FORMS AND RESOURCES: Checklists (writing, elements, Common Core), rubrics, tracking forms, spelling dictionary, student resource guide, word lists, writing goals, reflection (PEER AND SELF) forms, word choice thesaurus, final copy templates.

10. PROMPTS AND WEEKLY WRITING GUIDE: There are additional prompts and a weekly guide to writing. For Opinion and Informative Writing, there are PROMPT PASSAGES.
