Primary Grades Instructions:

2. Hide the Eggs: Scatter the eggs around a classroom, backyard, or play area.

3. The Hunt Begins! Let the children search for the eggs and collect them in their baskets.

4. Build Words: Once they’ve gathered enough eggs, they’ll open them and use the letters inside to form simple words like “bat,” “cat,” “sun,” or even an Easter-themed word like “bunny.” (You can create rules like, you may use your letters twice in one word.)

5. Extension Activity: For an extra challenge, ask them to form a sentence using one or more of the words they made.

Upper Elementary Instructions:

1. Prepare the Eggs: Print and cut out the individual Easter-themed words with different parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.) on small slips of paper. Then, place one inside each plastic egg.

2. Hide the Eggs: Scatter the eggs around a classroom, backyard, or play area.

3. The Hunt Begins! Let the children search for the eggs and collect them in their baskets.

4. Build Sentences: Students use the words to build complete sentences. (They may add words to their sentences and change the tense of the verbs.)

5. Extension Activity: Challenge them to write a short Easter-themed story using the words they found. (You can require them to use a set amount of words that they found.)
